Burrowing Toad 2
Burrowing toads are nocturnal, spending the
daylight hours in a small hole it digs in the soft earth. When faced with danger the burrowing toad
puffs up with air and stands high on its hindlimbs, slowly moving backwards. Toads are known to
react more strongly to danger stimuli. This is perhaps because they are not as successful as frogs at
jumping, thus they need a different defence.
