Burrowing Toad
The burrowing toad is found exclusively in Mexico and Guatemala. It can reach lengths of 7 cm and
has a rounded body and small head. The head tapers into a blunt snout, and there seems
to be no eardrums. Most toads and frogs have tongues which are connected at the front of their
mouths. This is advantageous when catching fast moving insects. The burrowing toad however has
a tongue similar to humans, connected in the back of the mouth. MORE!
