Lungless Salamander
The lungless salamander lacks both lungs and gills. This amphibian
breathes through its slimy skin and through the skin lining the mouth. There are approximately 150
species found in Tropical America and North America. They range in length from 4 cm
to 22 cm. Most species are land creatures. Lungless salamanders have common salamander
characteristics such as long, slender bodies, rounded bellies, long tails and 4 agile limbs.
