Phylum Bryozoa
Fossilized records of moss animals date back to the Lower Ordovician Period, from 430 million to 500 million
years ago. Moss animals have no respiratory,
excretory or circulatory systems. These small creatures join together to form colonies. Some colonies are so
small they live between sand grains on the ocean floor, while others attach to rocks, ships and plants, reaching as
much as 1.5ft. in width.
