Trilobite
(Extinct Group Trilobita)
The now extinct trilobites dominated the seas about 570 million years ago during the Paleozoic era. They had a flattened, oval
form with a very distinctive three-lobed, three-segmented form. These arthropods, with protective
exoskeleton, could reach lengths up to 45 cm, weighing 4.5 kg. Like other arthropods this exoskeleton
was shed as the animal grew, these shed exoskeletons remain as fossilized stories today.
