Walkingstick (Order Orthoptera Family Phasmatidae)

This brown or green, wingless insect has received its name for its resemblance to a twig. With its long, slender body and extended antennae the walkingstick is well camouflaged in trees and shrubs. This plant eater can reach lengths greater then 6 inches. This photograph, taken in Mt. Kinabalu, Borneo, features a red legged walkingstick. MORE! [BM] {PF}
