Cockroach 2
(Order Orthoptera Family Blattidae)
These hard-bodied insects have oval,
flattened bodies. The antennae are slender and very long. Most cockroaches have wings, yet they
rarely fly. There is a greater abundance of cockroaches in the southern region of North America, than
in the north. The wood cockroach usually live outdoors, found under fallen trees, in wood and hidden
under rocks. This photograph taken in Trinidad features a rainforest cockroach.
