Order Orthoptera
There are some 22 200 species, including grasshoppers, within the order orthoptera. Grasshoppers,
walkingsticks, crickets, katydids and cockroaches all belong to this large order. All are usually identified by 2
pair of long, narrow, heavily veined wings. In some species the wings may be small or absent. These
2 grasshoppers are known as horse lubber grasshoppers.
