There are some 3000 species belonging to the Satyridae family world wide. They are commonly called Satyrs or Browns. They are often dull brown or grey, having a wingspan from 25 to 73 mm. They can usually be recognized by distinct eyespots on the wings. They are not very successful fliers and generally remain in one specific area.
