This common Pearl Crescent Butterfly is marked by a crescent shaped moon on the underside of its hindwings. The underside of the forewings are a soft orange hue. The uppersides are orange with dark trim and black markings. The wingspan ranges from 2.5 to 4 cm. This is a day flying butterfly which can be found in lowlands and marchlands. As a caterpillar it can be recognized by its black body with white and black pointed spines. [BM] {EB}
