Bog Fritillary Butterfly
(Family Nymphalidae)
The bog fritillary has a velvety brown ground colour with orange on the upper side of the wings and
yellow and orange on the underside. The wingspan of the female is 46mm. This butterfly receives its
name from its larval caterpillar form, which feeds on bog plants. The bog fritillary is found in North
America, South America and in western Europe.
