Mosquito 2
(Order Dipetera Family Culicidae)
The female has a total of 6 tools
used for withdrawing blood. Of those parts, one is used to cut a jagged opening, a tiny tube in then
inserted into the cut to inject a watery solution to dilute the blood. Another tool is then inserted into
the hole when the blood has reached the right consistency to suck it up. All these parts are sheathed
in a beak. Breeding in stagnant water, the eggs are laid in May or June with the female dying 2 to 4
weeks later.
