HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Stag Beetle (Order Coleoptera Family Lucanidae)

Stag beetles have elongated, oval bodies. They are commonly black or reddish brown. The name given to this beetle suggests the very large mandibles of the male species, much like antlers on a stag. Stag beetles feed on running sap and can be found on the forest floor or on beaches. The larvae are most commonly found in rotting logs and decaying wood where they feed on the juices. Stag beetles range in size from 8mm to 40mm. [BM] {PF}
