The milkweed beetle, which is found in western North America, is a beautiful, rich dark blue colour. Others vary in colour, such as this deep red milkweed beetle. It is characterized by an oval, stout body. Like most other beetles it has leathery wings. The milkweed beetle feeds on dogbane plants. [BM] {EB}
