The species of "Nicrophorus" are commonly known as Burying Beetles or Sexton Beetles. The Burying Beetle is characterized by its broad, oval, flattened body. They are black with red, yellow or orange markings. Real scavengers they burrow under dead animals or decaying vegetation.
