Pea Crab

The pea crab is the smallest of the crab family. Like other members of the crab family this miniature version is characterized by the hard shell which it carries on its back. This little pea crab in on a primitive sea animal called a sea cucumber. Many are found moving slowly over rocks and coral, while some sea cucumbers bury themselves in soft mud and sand. The sea cucumber has a row of finely branched tentacles around a central mouth opening. [BM] {EB}
