Crayfish are the only decapods which are most frequently found in freshwater, the rest of the decapods, including lobsters, crabs and shrimp are primarily marine dwellers. Crayfish closely resemble lobsters, although they are smaller in size. Like the lobster the crayfish is covered by a hard carapace, has 5 pairs of leg-like limbs with the first pair bearing pincers. Crayfish are shy creatures and can readily be found hiding under rocks in shallow waters of lakes and rivers. [BM] {PF}
