Crabs
The crab has a hard shell, called a
carapace, which covers almost its entire body. The primary purpose of this shell is protection. The
crab has 5 pairs of leg like appendages which are called cephalothorcic, used for locomotion. The first
pair of appendages usually have large pincer claws. This first pair is designed to grasp and hold
things. The crab is enjoyed as a popular seafood.
