Teeth originate from bone and are covered with a very hard substance known as enamel. There are four different types of teeth which all have different roles. Incisors cut and slice, canines grip and tear, while premolars and molars chew and crush. The first "baby" teeth come in about six months after birth; there are usually 20 of these "baby" teeth.
