Kidneys

The kidneys are responsible for keeping a safe water balance in the body by filtering the blood. The kidneys filter almost 1700 litres of blood per day. The bean-shaped kidneys are located on either side of the spinal column. They filter out the waste in the blood and excrete those wastes in the form of urine to the bladder. If blood is not filtered by the kidneys, the organism will eventually die. [CG] {NR}
