This aquatic team sport is played in swimming pools. Players must swim as they use any part of their body to pass of throw the ball. Points are scored by landing the buoyant ball in the oponent's net. Water polo was first played in the 1880s and became an official Olympic sport in 1900. [AM] {NR}
