Swimming Crawl Stroke
The crawl stroke was
discovered by the Hawaiian and Soloman Islanders and popularizedby Australian champion Dick
Cavill at the beginning of the
20th Century. The swimmer is positioned horizantally with
face in the water. A shallow kick is used for a small amount
of propulsion. Hands enter the
water at shoulder width, with
fingers together to make a paddle. The hand is pulled
backwards
to the thigh and then lifted out of the water, while the other
hand enters the
water. Back to Swimming.
