Soccer

A team sport in which the objective is to move a large round ball across a rectangular outdoor field and into the oponent's net. All players but the goal tender are prohibited from using their hands on the ball. Typical, players bounce the ball off the foot, knee, and head. Needing only an object to be used as a ball, and an open space in which to play, soccer is probably the most accessible sport, and arguably the world's most popular. There are millions of fans around the world. Outside North America this sport is called football. [AM] {ED}
