This phase of
mountaineering, which is a sport in its own right, uses
essential mountaineering tools of
hands and feet.
The hands are used for balance and the feet give
for support. The climber
must use careful observation
and plan each movement to retain balance. The use
of a
climber's hands and feet are not usually a matter
of strength, instead they are the climbers
