Marathon
A marathon is a foot
race of a significant distance. The
title "marathon" commemorates a famous Greek soldier
who
is said to have run 40 km from the town of Marathon
to Athens to tell of the Athenian
victory over the
Persians. In the year 1896, when the Olympics were
revived, the marathon
was included and the first winner
was appropriately a Greek participant by the name of
Spiros Louis. MORE!
