In 1875 students at
McGill University in
Quebec created hockey rules. In 1917, the National Hockey League
(NHL),
which includes both Canadian and American
professional teams was formed. Prior to the
formation
of the NHL, Canadians had a tradition of presenting the
best Canadian hockey team
with an award called the
Stanley Cup which began in 1893. MORE!
