Cycling 4
A decline in cycling
occurred with the rise of the automobile. The National
Cyclist Union (NCU), the first sport
cycling
organization, was founded in 1878.
In 1883, a recreational cycling organization,
the
Bicycle Touring Club, was founded.
At that time they could boast 60,000
members, but late in
the 20th Century it had only 25,000.
The most popular of cycling
races is the Tour de
France. Back to Cycling.
