Camping 2
In 1853 a boy sat in the
back of a horse
drawn wagon looking over the American
Prairie land that stretched out into
the
horizon. This young boy was Thomas Hiram Holding and
he travelled with about 300 others
in a wagon
train, covering 1200 miles. This was one of Holding's
many outdoor adventures,
but it was this
experience that inspired him to write the
first campers guide book ever
written in 1908. This 1907 photograph was taken in Muskoka Lakes. MORE!
