Universal God

The Judeo-Christian concept of one universal God was very appealing to Mohammed. In Mecca, his birthplace, he found that there was much evil on the account of idolatry and hopelessness. Mohammed spent many hours sitting in the hills that surrounded Mecca contemplating the condition of the people. He thought often of the teachings found within the Old Testament and the New Testament. Mohammed believed that his people needed an inspired prophet like Jesus Christ to lead the people to the good life. This Islamic mosque is in Delhi, India. [BM] {EM}
