Shinto 2
Shinto was a way of life to the Japanese, and it was granted a
name so that it could be differentiated from Buddhism. Shinto and Buddhism still coexist, to this day,
within Japan. The traditions of Shinto have become the traditions of the Japanese. Festivals
associated with the Shinto way have become festivals celebrated by the entire Japanese nation. Early
Shinto revolved around agriculture and community. It has now become intertwined with the ordinary
affairs of the government. In this photograph a worshipper is seen with a Shinto priest.
