Apart from the specific worship of Vishnu and Siva, all the various Hindu sects do have fundamental similarities. All Hindu sects have a belief in an everlasting, infinite, all loving principle of ultimate reality which is called Brahman. Brahman which is also called atman, is the underlying force which is the self found in all forms of life. Alongside the concept of Brahman/atman is the concept referred to as samsara.
