Three Doctrines
To acquire a taste of Calvinism the following three doctrines or ideas that were partially defined by Calvin and
essential to the early Reformation include, the theory of the supremacy of faith over works, the theory of
predestination and the Christian responsibility in social reform.
The first theory which defines the superiority of faith over good works stands in sharp opposition to Roman
