Mormon 2
This transient community faced contention from non-believing nations everywhere they settled.
Evidence of the persecution the Mormons faced is the murder of Smith himself in 1844! Brigham Young (1801-77) took over from Smith as the leader of the Mormon community.
He was to led the community to the uninhabited Great Salt Lake basin. This photograph features the now developed Utah capital.
At this location in Utah the Mormons have remained and present-day Utah claims a
majority of religiously affiliated people belonging to the Church of the Latter-day Saints.
