The Greek priests run the individual churches. These priests are generally poorly trained and have had unfortunate influence on the contemporary church. Secularization within Greece has also proven destructive for the orthodoxy in Greece. Despite these setbacks the church still retains considerable power within Greece and there are still approximately 10 million adherents to Greek Orthodoxy within this country. Through immigration a Greek Orthodox community has been established in North America. This church is found in Vermont. [BM] {ED}
