Thor is the oldest and the most powerful son of Odin. Thor could be recognized by the hammer named Mjollnir which he threw in anger at his enemies. When he threw this hammer lightning streaked across the sky and as he rode his chariot, thunder rumbled and cracked. Thor never missed his mark when throwing his hammer and Mjollnir always returned to him. The Anglo-Saxon word Thursday has been named in honour of Thor. This pinnacle in the Valley of Fire, Colorado, is known as Thor's Hammer. [BM] {W2}
