Ragnarok

Vikings believed that in the final days, before the earth is destroyed in a type of Apocalypse, the gods and goddesses would fight a great battle, which was called the Ragnarok, with the giants. In this final fight Odin, Thor and Frey all die. Viking mythology discontinued with the introduction of Christianity. By the early 1100s English and German missionaries helped make Christianity the dominant religion in the Scandinavian countries. This is an ancient Viking cemetary in Denmark. [BM] {W2}
