The 12 Olympian gods are Zeus, Hera, Poseidon (featured here in this bronze sculpture), Demeter, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hermes, Athena, Hephaestus and Hestia (or Dionysus). Each of these 12 gods had a very special function and sphere of influence. For example, Apollo was the god of music, healing and prophecy; Hermes was the messenger of Zeus, the god of travellers and was responsible for guiding souls on their way to the underworld. [BM] {ED}
