The Gods
Like most polytheistic religions, the Greeks believed in a supreme being (Zeus) above all the other gods.
The Homeric epics depict the gods living on Mount Olympus under the watchful eye of Zeus.
The Greeks worshipped the 12 gods of Olympus as well as local gods such as Pan, the goat god,
Nymphs, Naiads (who dwelled in springs), and Nereids (who inhabit the sea). This sculpture of Venus, the
goddess of love, was created c.200 BC. MORE!
