An Isolated Japan
(1350 - 1500AD)
Japan, until the
mid-sixteenth Century was isolated geographically and culturally. Japan was
cut off from
Asia by
stormy seas, and the mountainous Japan even cut the communities within itself off
from each
other. Typhoons, volcanic
eruptions and earthquakes made survival difficult. Japan
during its early history began to
borrow from its Chinese
neighbours, such ideas as ideas on
government, art and especially religion.
