After WWII the nation was led by Tito, an independent communist leader. His leadership elevated this broken nation to become a semideveloped country. Under communisim the Serbs, Croats & Muslims were able to live without tension. When communism fell in 1989, Yugoslavia broke into vicious civil war which ended late in 1995 when a peace accord was signed. [BM] {UA}
