Recent Vanuatu
In 1980 the New Hebrides
were granted independence & the name of the country was changed to Vanuatu. Vanuatu
became a
member of the British Commonwealth. The government is run by a parliment with direct input
from the
National Council of Chiefs. The National Council of Chiefs deal with matters of
tradition & customary laws.
