Since independence 2000 nuclear warheads have been disarmed within the Ukraine. The Ukrainian government agreed to disarmament in exchange for a $350 million US aid package. The leaders of the Ukraine are working hard to rebuild their weak economy. Unlike other former Soviet republics the Ukraine is not burdened by ethnic conflict. [BM] {UA}
