Hurricane Allen struck the island nation of St. Lucia in 1980. Hurricane Allen destroyed many banana plantations. St. Lucia is still recovering from the economic hardships of this natural disaster. The present Prime Minister, John Compton, is hoping to introduce agrarian reform & has proposed the legalization of gambling, hoping to increase tourism. [BM] {UA}
