Recent Slovenia

The Slovene people experienced stablity under the leadership of the Communist dictator Tito. This stablity disintegrated shortly after Tito's death in 1980. In 1990 when Communism collapsed Slovenia was the first of the republics to secede from Yugoslavia. With the fall of Communism the nation of Slovenia became independent for the first time in all of its history. Slovenia has been successful as an independent nation. [BM] {UA}
