In 1956 Pakistan became an independent republic & became allied with the West. Since independence Pakistan has experienced political unrest, civil war & war with neighbouring India. In 1992 Pakistan experienced the worst flooding in the known history of that country. Land & lives were lost. Today Pakistan is ruled by Benazir Bhutto.
