Recent Namibia

In response to guerilla warfare in South-West Africa the United Nations renamed the region Namibia and began to devise plans leading to independence. During the 1980's an agreement was reached between South Africa & Angola. South Africa promised Namibia independence if Cuban troops were removed from Angola. In 1990 Namibia reached full independence & a new constitution was drawn. SWAPO has a very strong hold of Namibian parliament. [BM] {UA}
