In 1990 the Communist party of Mongolia gave up its constitutional power as a response to demonstrations. Mongolia has gradually been moving towards full democracy & free markets. In 1995 trading began on Mongolia's first stock exchange. The Mongolian government has pursued international loans to begin programs of privatization, currency & banking reform.
