Modern Malta

In the year 1800 Malta came under British rule. From 1921 to 1939 Malta was granted limited self-rule. During WWII the islands of Malta were heavily damaged by constant air raids by Italian & German forces. When the war was over the entire population of Malta was awarded the George Cross for their bravery. In 1971 Malta disassociated with the British Crown & became a fully independent republic. [BM] {UA}
