In the 1990's after being allied with Iraq in the Iran-Irag war, Iraq invaded Kuwait & annexed it. Seven months later Kuwait was liberated by several forces including the United States. Kuwait experienced great suffering & destruction before liberation. The al-Sabath family returned to power in the 1990's but lost considerable control through parlimentary elections which favoured democratic reforms. [BM] {UA}
