Since Germany's occupation of Greece in WWII, Greece has experinced civil war and political instability. During the 1960's and 70's Greece fell under a dictatorship, only to recover and experience continuing political unrest. In 1994, in a response to the American recognition of Macedonia, Greece broke off relations with this state and denied port access. [BM] {UA}
